The Club will present its Sports Lifetime Achievement Award to Japanese Olympic wrestler Saori Yoshida at an evening event in the Winter Garden.
Yoshida’s freestyle wrestling record is nothing short of remarkable. The 35-year-old has amassed three Olympic gold medals and one silver, 13 world championship titles and four Asian Games titles.
Established in 1995, the Sports Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to outstanding athletes in honor of their career achievements and reinforces the importance of sports as a way to promote intercultural understanding and relations.
The most recent recipients of the award were Masato Mizuno and Tsunekazu Takeda, who led Tokyo’s 2020 Olympic bid. Previous awardees include Sadaharu Oh and Shigeo Nagashima.
